Five die in separate accidents

Agartala, Mar 03 (UNI) Five people died in separate road mishaps at different places of Tripura yesterday.

In the first incident, four persons were killed when a maruti car, in which they were travelling, collided with a bus at Chacrimile in Bishalgarh.While the driver of the car and another person died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The bus was coming from Udaipur to Agartala while the car was coming from the opposite direction. Police seized both the vehicles but the bus driver is absconding.

In another road mishap, a 40-year old woman died on the spot when a jeep dashed her at Ram Thakur Para under Khowai police station, police sources said. Police seized the vehicle but the driver is abscondng.

Fake MCD office unearthed

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) With the arrest of four people from South West Delhi, police today claimed to have unearthed a fake Municipal Corporation of Delhi office and recovered fake postal stamps, worth Rs 2.8 lakhs, and MCD appointment letters used to cheat victims. Virender Rai (36), head of the gang, Hari Narain (42), Satpal (30) and Yagdutt Sharma (36) were arrested from Palam Village in South West Delhi on March 10. Police directs newspapers not to publish 'magic drug' ads

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) In compliance with High Court orders, police today directed editors of all daily newspapers not to publish advertisements pertaining to drugs or remedies claiming to have ''magic qualities''. Additional Commissioner of Police Depender Pathak said if any publication was found to be violating the High Court order it may be punishable under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. IGNOU fixes completion ceiling of 8 years for management:programmes

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has fixed completion ceiling of eight years in management programmes for 3.80 lakh students registered between 1987 and 2006 cycle of admissions. An IGNOU official today said all the students who were registered in the management programmes in July 2003 cycle or thereafter must complete the requirement for the award of degree or diploma within the prescribed maximum duration.
