Shillong, Mar 3(UNI) The Union Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has earmarked Rs. 65.46 crore to fund social sector projects under the non-lapseable central pool of Resources (NLCPR) in Meghalaya.
During 2006-07, Meghalaya had received funds to the tune of Rs 15.36 crore for projects like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, SAC expansion programme on Employment construction of primary school buildings etc, the ministry officials said.
The officials said utilisation of NLCPR funds for ongoing social sector projects for the NE states during the first half of the year 2006-07 had been Rs 1480.17 crores.
Social Sector NLCPR projects, implemented in the state under NEC, had been allocated a sum of Rs 76.30 lakhs for projects like stipend, book grants and IT Education programme for NE students.
