Dalit youth dies in mysterious circumstances

Karnal, Mar 3 (UNI) A dalit youth died under mysterious circumstances in troubled Salwan village of Karnal district where some dalit houses were set on fire on March one.

The body of a Dalit youth, identified as Sonu (21), was recovered from the backyard of his house last night. His relatives named three youths of the upper caste while the police was awaiting his post mortem report.

Karnal SSP Sibash Kaviraj told UNI that Sonu was believed to be a drug addict. His autopsy would reveal the cause of his death, he added.

Meanwhile, another Dalit youth Ramesh has alleged someone set his house on fire this morning when his mother was alone. His mother somewhow saved her life but some of the belongings were burnt, he added.

HC upholds Constitutional validity of Depositors Act

Chennai, Mar 3 (UNI) Madras High Court today upheld Constitutional validity of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) (TNPID) Act, 1997. The Full Bench comprising Justices P D Dinakaran, P P S Janarthana Raja and K Chandru upheld the TNPID Act while dismissing a batch of petitions from S Bhagawathi and 100 others, seeking to declare the Act as unconstitutional and ultra vires the Constitution. Minimum temperatures rise at few places

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) Minimum temperatures significantly rose at a few places over Telangana and changed little over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. According to Weather office here today, the minimum temperatures were below normal at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and normal over Telangana. Crime Branch to seek Interpol help in blast case

Kozhikode, Mar 3 (UNI) Kerala will Crime Branch Police seek Interpol's assistance for extradition from Dubai of a suspect involved in twin bomb blasts that rocked the city a year ago.
