Congress MLA rounded up for firing in air

Dehradun, Mar 3 (UNI) A Congress MLA was rounded up by the police for firing in the air in broad day light at Kotwali area here today.

According to the Kotwali police sources, MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh from Luxar constituency of Haridwar district of Uttarakhand was heading towards Dalanwala in his vehicle when another vehicle hit his vehicle.

The infuriated MLA came out of his vehicle and after some verbal exchange took out his pistol and fired in the air. Police after seizing his pistol took him to the Dalanwala police station for interrogation.

Monica case: Defence plea heard

Bhopal, Mar 3 (UNI) A local court today heard incomplete arguments on a review petition submitted by the defence for making seven people co-accused, on the basis of witnesses' statements, in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Central excise collections to touch Rs 3600 cr in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The Mangalore Central Excise Commissionerate is expected to achieve a growth rate of about 19-20 per cent in collections to reach Rs 3,600 crore mark by March 2007, its Commissioner Dr John Joseph said today. Lok Adalt decides 579 cases in HP

Shimla, Mar 3 (UNI) Lok Adalat in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh today decided 579 cases under the Motor Vehicles Act. Out of a total of 1,499 cases brought before the court, it decided 579 cases, an official release said. It said the next Lok Adalt would be held here on March 17 in which cases under section 138, Negotiable Instrument Act 1881 and Recovery Suits pretaining to financial institution would be decided.
