Bomb scare in college at Udhna proves hoax

Surat, Mar 3 (UNI) An anonymous call made to a college in Udhna, saying that three bombs, planted in the college, would explode in the afternoon proved to be a hoax after a thorough of the premises search by the police today.

Police said R N Nayak Akademi College Principal Mehul Desai received the call and the caller told him the bombs would go off at 1400 hrs. He immediately reported the matter to the police.

A bomb disposal squad and dog squad rushed to the spot. The college was evacuated and a thorough search was conducted, but nothing was found, sources added.

Two criminals arrested

Supaul, Mar 3(UNI) Police arrested two criminals for demanding extortions from an executive engineer of Road Construction division at his official residence here late last night. Police said the criminals stormed into the residence of Kameshwar Prasad Sinha and assaulted him because he refused to pay Rs 10,000. CD case: Deputy Collector suspended

Hoshangabad, MP, Mar 3 (UNI) A deputy collector, posted at the Collectorate here, was suspended today in connection with a case pertaining to an obscene compact disc (CD), official sources said. Divisional Commissioner B R Naidu issued the order against Mr R L Bhammani. During the suspension, the officer's headquarters will be Rajgarh. Three dead in road accident

Sheopur, MP, Feb 23 (UNI) Three people died and two others were seriously injured when a jeep collided with a truck in front of the district sessions court premises here, police said today. The accident occurred when the trio were on their way to a hotel. The deceased were identified as Sandhya Gupta (38), Shreya (14) and jeep driver Mashtkin.
