Tributes paid to jawans

Visakahpatnam, Mar 2 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to jawans S P R Varahala Raju and Lakshman Rao, who were killed in anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The mortal remains of the two jawans were flown to Naval Air Staion here, from New Delhi and handed over to their relatives.

According to a Naval spokesperson, the 'Veer Jawans', attached to the Engineering Regiment, were posted in Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir. During an anti-insurgency search operation, they sustained bullet injuries, to which they later succumbed.

IAF's cycle expedition concludes

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 5 (UNI) The cycle expedition organised by the Indian Air Force as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations concluded here. The expedition, which was flagged off on February 24 at Thanjavur concluded here after passing through Pudukottai, Thirupattur, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti, Thirunelveli, Nanguneri, Nagercoil and Kuzhitturai, an official release said here today. Work on track for new medical colleges in Asom

Guwahati, Mar 2 (UNI) The first phase of work of the three new medical colleges in Asom will be completed by 2008, with Rs 90 crore earmarked for it under Plan head in 2007-08.
