Trader shot dead in Bihar

Bhabhua, Mar 2(UNI) A trader was shot dead and his son injured in a shootout by the criminals at Ektachowck in Bhabhua town of Kaimur district this afternoon.

Police said the criminals attacked the businessman's shop and demanded extortion money from him. The criminals fired indiscriminately at the trader following his refusal to pay the extortion money.

The trader died on the spot while his son Sumit Prasad sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to Varanasi for treatment.

Raids were on to arrest the criminals.

Senior police officials and DM sentenced for contempt of court

Kolkata, Mar 2 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today sentenced senior police officials, a district magistrate and 14 agitators to six month simple imprisonment for contempt of court related to a High Court Circuit Bench in Jalpaiguri. A two-judge Bench, headed by Acting Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya, issued the ruling for failure of the police and district administration to comply with the court's earlier order asking to contain the ongoing agitation regarding the Circuit Bench. The court earlier took UP the issue.....
