Tennis coach held under Domestic Violence Act

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) Prominent player-turned-tennis coach Suresh Kumar was today arrested under the Domestic Violence Act.

Acting on a complaint from his wife Deepa Natarajan, a software engineer, police arrested him at suburban Neelangarai.

He was produced before a court in suburban Tambaram and remanded in 15 days' judicial custody. He was later lodged in the newly constructed jail at Puzhal.

The bespectacled Suresh Kumar, who had played for Tamil Nadu in mid-80s, married his trainee Deepa seven years back and they had a three-year-old girl child. He is running a Tennis Academy at Adyar area in the city.

In her complaint, Deepa said Suresh Kumar had been torturing her regularly and was also sexually abusing his trainees, and had been using their residence as a guest house.

Deepa also claimed that she was pushed down by her husband and suffered a fracture. But, considering the child's future, she decided against lodging a complaint with the police.

However, unable to bear her constant torture, Deepa had moved the family court seeking a divorce.

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 2 (UNI) The CB-CID is yet to crack the sensational case involving the disappearance of Rs 50 lakh worth gold coins despite the passage of three months. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer A P V N Sharma told UNI here today the case was handed over to the State Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) three months ago and investigations were continuing. Alleged serial killer arrested in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 3 (UNI) City police have arrested drug addict and street dweller Salim Sheikh, on charges of attempting to murder of a migrant from Lucknow near Grant Road station last Saturday. Police today said the victim, Raju Gupta (20), who is recuperating at the Nair hospital, identified Salim (25) as the person who stabbed him on February 25. Gupta was found in a semi-conscious state by the Railway Police between Mumbai Central and Grant Road stations. He sustained severe.....
