Temperature rises in parts of AP

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) The mercury rose in some parts of Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours even as night temperatures continued to be below normal elsewhere in the State.

Anantapur, Kurnool and Tirupathi Airport recorded a high of 37 degrees Celsius, while Medak had a low of 18 degrees Celsius, the Weather office here said.

Dry weather prevailed over the state. The maximum temperature was above normal at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and normal over Telangana.

The minimum temperatures rose at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema and changed little over Telangana.

They were below normal at one or two places over Telangana but above normal at some places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema.

Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail over all the three regions of the State.

Hyderabad will have mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 19 degrees Celsius respectively.

Army launches Field Postal Orders for troops

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) In a move aimed at mitigating the hardship of the troops in remitting money to their families back home, the Army Postal Service (APS) in association with the Department of Posts, today launched the Field Postal Orders (FPOr). The FPOr would serve as a more convenient and cheaper alternative of money transfer as compared to the money order or the bank draft. Indian coastguard vessel rescues an injured French ship mariner

Panaji, Feb 20 (UNI) The Indian Coastguard jawans rescued an injured French Merchant vessel 'New Vision' mariner who got his right hand's four fingers amputated while working on a lathe machine, 300 km off Goa coast last evening. The ICG vessel Savithribai Phule rushed to the site from Mormugao port to reach the French ship and offered first aid to the victim who was later brought to the shore for admitting him into a private hospital in Vasco-da-Gama.
