Six-year-old boy killed in road accident

Bangaon, Mar 02 (UNI) A six-year-old school boy was killed by a truck at Banbehari colony in North 24 Parganas this afternoon.

The incident took place when a driver of a Chakdah-bound truck rammed into a medicine shop leaving Arghya Biswas seriously injured.

The victim was soon rushed to the Bangaon sub-divisional hospital from where he was referred to a city hospital. But Arghya succumbed to injuries on the way.

The boy, who was returning from his school Ramakrishna Vidyamandir here, took shelter under the shed of a shop during rain.

Incidentally, the truck driver, hit two goods carrying vans after ramming into the shop.

Local people immediately caught the truck driver and handed him over to the police.

They also raised blockade on the Bangaon-Chakdah Road for a couple of hours claiming compensation.

HC asks govt to set up committee to examine waste disposal

Shillong, Mar 2 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob has summoned a 19-day budget session from March 12, Assembly officials said here today. Mr Jacob will address the session on the opening day, while state's Finance Minister Dr Donkupar Roy will present the state's budget on March 22. Youth burnt alive over illicit relationship

Mahoba, Mar 11 (UNI) A youth was burnt alive after unidentified miscreants set him afire in this district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in Pahreta under Kharela police station area, where the youth was murdered and later, his body was dumped in a well. The body was recovered today and efforts were on to identify it, police said.
