SIDO conducts various development prog in January

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) About 30 entrepreneurship development programmes, 35 motivational campaigns and 20 management development programmes were conducted by the SIDO field institutions in different states in the month of January, an official statement said here today.

Altogether, 4,345 persons took part in these programmes, it added.

National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) conducted 17 intensive campaigns and 10 marketing promotion seminars at various places in the country.

The National Institute of Small Industries Extension Training (NISIET), Hyderabad conducted 71 training programmes for 1,563 participants.

The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati conducted 22 training programmes for 847 participants.

Business Facilitation and Development Centre (BFDC) at IIE, Guwahati, provided counselling to 37 entrepreneurs on identification of opportunities and selection of projects.

Support services like helping in DIC registration, providing machinery suppliers addresses, training link-up etc were provided to 19 entrepreneurs.

The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida conducted five training programmes for 94 participants.

Under ISO-9000/14001 Reimbursement Scheme, an amount of Rs 1.15 crore has been approved to 257 Small Scale Industry (SSI) units including reimbursement case of north eastern region amounting to Rs 67,500.

Service tax on property rental fully justified: Shome

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Advisor to Finance Minister Dr Parthasarthi Shome has justified imposition of service tax on property rental income, meant for commercial use and maintained that dividend distribution tax (DDT) has been kept at marginal rate of 15 per cent to give leverage for administrative expenses. ''Property rental whether horizontal or vertical were essentially services in nature and therefore has been brought into service tax net,'' he said while addressing an Assocham post-Budget interactive session here. Ordinance to regulate admission in colleges in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Mar 3 (UNI) The Orissa government will soon promulgate an ordinance to regulate the admission, prohibit capitation fees and enforce reservation in Engineering and Medical colleges besides other professional educational institutions in the state. A decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday to ensure quality education in the state and make the system more transparent. ENPO observes 'Black Day' over killing of tribals

Kohima, Mar 3 (UNI) The Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) today observed 'Black Day' here in protest against the killing of two Konyak tribe boys by the NSCN-IM.
