Puducherry, Mar 2 (UNI) The Puducherry municipality has urged the territorial administration to reconsider the implementation of the Port development project here.
Municipal chairperson Dr Sreedevi, in a resolution adopted at its meeting here yesterday, and forwarded to the government pointed out that there was apprehension that the project would not only cause pollution to enviornemnt and ground water but also affect the livelihood of the people here.
She sought a thorough examination of the project by setting up of a committee comprising enviornmentalists and ground water experts to get a report since there was a general opinion that the feasibility of the project in Puducherry was bleak.
The government was also asked to rectify the problems caused to the people following the setting up of the Ariyankuppam fishing harbour here.
