Rajya Sabha adjourned till March 6

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha adjourned this evening for a longer weekend to assemble again on Tuesday -- a day after the Holi festival.

With the festival of colours to be observed on Sunday, members in the Upper House appeared eager to leave the national capital for their home.

Consequently, there were only 21 present in the House -- including the Presiding Officer -- when Vice Chairman PJ Kurien wound up for the day. The quorom in the House is 24.

Earlier, the Rajya Sabha suffered adjournments twice in the pre-lunch sitting -- the first time was 15 minutes after it assembled for the day and then till 1430 hrs after it re-assembled at 1200 hrs.

The cause celebre on both occasions was the alleged misuse of the judiciary by the Centre against Samajwadi Party party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Protesting SP members shouted slogans on the issue forcing the Presiding Officers to adjourn the proceedings twice.

Promotional package for micro

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) The Government today announced a promotional package for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) promising to raise the corpus of the Credit Guarantee Fund to Rs 2,500 crore in the next five years. The eligible loan limit under the scheme will be hiked to Rs 50 lakh and the credit guarantee cover from 75 per cent to 80 per cent for micro enterprises for loans up to Rs 5 lakh, Minister of Small Scale Industries.....

Best Bakery's Zahira Sheikh released

Nashik, Mar 14 (UNI) Gujarat infamous Best Bakery case flip-flop prime witness Zahira Sheikh was today released from the Nashik jail after completing her one-year sentence for contempt of court. Jail official Ashok Rane confirmed her release. Zahira completed her sentence on March 9 but her release was deferred on account of delay in delivering the Supreme Court's order waiving a fine of Rs 50,000 on her to the jail authorities. ICICI Bank forms new holding company, plans to get it listed

Mumbai, Mar 3 (UNI) Private banking major ICICI Bank plans to transfer investments in four subsidiaries to a new wholly-owned unit ICICI Holdings, which may be listed sometimes later.
