Panchaloha idols missing from city temple

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) Two Panchaloha idols were reported missing from the Lord Venugopalaswamy temple at the Parry's corner area in the city.

The incident came to light last evening when the main priest opened the temple last evening.

When he started counting the 37 idols kept in the temple, he found two idols of Goddess Bhoodevi and Sridevi, missing.

Temple authorities have lodged a complaint with the North Beach police, who have taken up the investigation.

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) Madras High Court Chief Justice A P Shah has said an increase in number of judges or tribunals would only increase litigation and it was high time to adopt mediation as an alternative mode of dispute resolution. Mr Justice Shah, who was the chief guest at the book release function of 'Settle for More - The Why, How and When of Mediation' authored by senior advocate Sriram Panchu, yesterday said the promise of speedy disposal was illusory.....

HC asks Govt to inform on ADB procedures

Kochi, Mar 2 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the State Government to inform the procedures adopted for entering into the loan agreement with the ADB by March 14. A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice M N Krishnan, gave the direction on a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) filed by Anti-ADB Campagin Committee, represented by C R Neelakantan. The petitioner said, the agreement, entered into by the Government on December eight, 2006, was 'illegal'.....

Kochi, Mar 2 (UNI) A legal notice was served on Chief Minister V S Achuthanandnan by Kerala pradesh Youth Congress committee president K P Anil Kumar for violation of the oath taken while being sworn in as Chief Minister. The notice, served through advocate K Ramakumar, said he had violated his oath by recommending Justice V K Bali, former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India, in a letter addressed.....

Bomb scare in college at Udhna proves hoax

Surat, Mar 3 (UNI) An anonymous call made to a college in Udhna, saying that three bombs, planted in the college, would explode in the afternoon proved to be a hoax after a thorough of the premises search by the police today. Police said R N Nayak Akademi College Principal Mehul Desai received the call and the caller told him the bombs would go off at 1400 hrs. He immediately reported the matter to the police.
