More temples to be registered: Kunal

Saharsa, Mar 02 (UNI) Secretary of Bihar state religious board Kishore Kunal today said that more temples with considerable donations would be registered soon.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Kunal said that there were forty thousand temples in the state but only three thousand of them had been registered so far.He expressed his concern over the growing incidents of theft of idols from from the temples and attributed it to the laxity of the concerned police stations in discharging their duties.

''District police superintendents had been requested to provide adequate security cover to the temples with idols of high antique value'' he added.

Mr Kunal said that priests would be removed from the concerned temples in the event of theft of statues.

'' A residential school would be opened with the income from Singheshwar temple in Madhepura'', he announced.

Naval Chief on his maiden visit to Andaman and Nicobar Command

Kolkata, Mar 8 (UNI)Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Suresh Mehta arrived in Port Blair today on a two-day maiden visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Accompanied by his wife, Admiral Mehta was received at the airport by Air Marshal P P Rajkumar, Commander-in-chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command and Mrs Indira Rajkumar. On his arrival, Admiral Mehta was presented with the Inter-Services Guard of Honour at Naval Air Station, INS Utkrosh. The Naval Chief is visiting the Command for the first time.....

First Mizo woman assumed top-office in Salvation Army

Aizawl, March 2 (UNI) Salvation Army officer Major Lalngaihawmi has umed office as the first Mizo female Chief Secretary in the Salvation Army, which is a church and social organisation. Ms Lalngaihawmi, also inducted as Chief Secretary of the India, Eastern Territory, replaced Lt Col Rohmingthanga here yesterday.
