Lokayukta complaints against police inefficiency

Madikeri, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde has lodged a complaint with the State Government against inaction of Kodagu police who failed to respond in time following a road mishap near madikeri last week.

In his complaint, he alleged that he was stranded on road for hours together due to an accident followed by road block and Police did not act with speed and efficiency.

Justice Hegde was traveling from Mangalore to Bangalore on February 25. The traffic was stranded near Jodupala, 20 Km from here as a lorry and a bus collided head on and blocked the road.

Lokayukta was one among the many vehicles stranded on the either sides of the road. The rural police from Madikeri took a very long time to arrive at the spot and he had to wait from 1445 hrs to 1800 hrs for clearing the road and continue the journey.

Shekhar Sinha appointed Rear Admiral of Western Fleet

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) The change of command at Western Fleet of Indian Navy took place today at a ceremony onboard the Indian Navy's Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat, in which Rear Admiral Anup Singh handed over command of the fleet to Rear Admiral Shekhar Sinha. Rear Admiral Shekhar Sinha is a Sea Harrier pilot and a flying instructor, who has flown extensively from aircraft carriers Vikrant and Viraat. He has commanded both the Sea Harrier operational and fighter training squadrons.....
