Legal notice served on Kerala CM

Kochi, Mar 2 (UNI) A legal notice was served on Chief Minister V S Achuthanandnan by Kerala pradesh Youth Congress committee president K P Anil Kumar for violation of the oath taken while being sworn in as Chief Minister.

The notice, served through advocate K Ramakumar, said he had violated his oath by recommending Justice V K Bali, former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India, in a letter addressed to President A P J Abdul Kalam.

The notice further said the Chief Minister's action amounted to denigrating the judiciary forgetting the well-maintained separation of executive and judicial powers envisaged in the Constitution.

It was further said the Chief Minister had taken a partisan stand showing undue interest in a particular judge.

Two criminals arrested

Supaul, Mar 3(UNI) Police arrested two criminals for demanding extortions from an executive engineer of Road Construction division at his official residence here late last night. Police said the criminals stormed into the residence of Kameshwar Prasad Sinha and assaulted him because he refused to pay Rs 10,000. CD case: Deputy Collector suspended

Hoshangabad, MP, Mar 3 (UNI) A deputy collector, posted at the Collectorate here, was suspended today in connection with a case pertaining to an obscene compact disc (CD), official sources said. Divisional Commissioner B R Naidu issued the order against Mr R L Bhammani. During the suspension, the officer's headquarters will be Rajgarh. The CD, beamed on television news channels a couple of days back, showed Mr Bhammani indulging in obscene acts with an unidentified woman. An administrative inquiry is underway......
