K'taka Choultry staff observes dharna in Tirumala

Tirumala, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka choultry staff today staged a dharna in front of the reception office of Karnataka choultry here to protest against the decision to privatise it.

Eight staff members gathered in front of the office and shouted slogans against the Karnataka Endownment Department which has taken the decision to handover the choultry to a private party for maintenance, choultry sources said.

Last month, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Endowment minister Nagaraju Chetty and six ministers along with 60 mlas, who offered worship at lord Venkateswara temple here visited the chcoultry and took the decision to handover the choultry to a private party.

DPP Advisory Committee to be formed at dist levels

Tirumala, Mar 2 (UNI) To conduct Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) programmes at all centers in the state, a DPP Advisory Committee involving prominent persons and scholars would be formed at all district levels in the state. This was announced, following a complaint from a scholar from Nizamabad that a local DPP member was misbehaving with the scholars, in a "Dial Your EO" programme held here today, TTD Executive Officer A P V N Sarma said. Army gears up to face probable floods in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Mar 7 (UNI) With the metal department predicting a ''good'' monsoon this year, the Army is drawing up combat plans to tackle floods, Golden Katar Infantry Division General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General P G Kamath said today. ''A meeting of formation commanders of the division was held today to formulate strategies as floods are expected for the third successive year. It was decided that heavy equipment like boats, tents, equipment for relief camps, and others will be pre-positioned.....

TDP holds rail roko

Rajahmundry, Mar 2 (UNI) More than 200 Telugu Desam Party activists, including women and youth, led by Former Minister G Butchaiah Chowdary held a rail roko today at Godavari Station detaining Howrah- Yaswanthpur Express and Rajahmundry-Bhimavaram Passenger Train for 15 minutes in protest against the 'injustice' meted out to the state in the Railway Budget as also the 'anti-people' Union Budget. Addressing the protestors, the TDP leader said the state was suffering neglect for the third successive year in Railway developmental.....
