KERC releases 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' order

Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has come out with an order on 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' as per a direction of the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy of the Union Government.

The salient feature of the order, issued by KERC on February 27, was that it was applicable to all Captive Power Plants in the State, who were willing to supply power of one MW and above to distribution licensees (ESCOMs), according to a release here today.

The order provided for sale of power at rates linked to existing unscheduled interchange rates for Firm and Infirm supplies offered by captive generators. Floor and ceiling rates were separately indicated. Firm supplies beyond three years were to be treated as long term contracts and such purchase shall be through competitive bidding with a ceiling rate of Rs 2.87 per unit.

K'taka CM warns erring officials

Sugarcane producers to get transportation cost

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to provide Rs 25 per qunital for conveying sugarcane to farmers in order to provide the relief. Replying to supplementary questions during the Question Hour, Agriculture Minister Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh said detailed instructions in this regard will be issued within one-two days. Omkareshwar project to produce electricity this month

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The 520 MW Omkareshwar Hydroelectric Power (OSP) project on the Narmada river in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh is nearing completion. Construction of OSP dam along with 23 radial gates was completed. The first unit of power house was almost completed and will start generating power in March, as per an official release. Permission had been sought from the state government to fill the OSP reservoir for the purpose. The project's construction had started in October 2003......
