IT sector needs support from Govt: Official

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) The Indian Information Technology sector, which has created a niche for itself outdoing China in the global market requires all support from government, including continuation of the Sunset clause of 10-year tax holiday, an official said.

Income Tax Chief Commissioner P P Jauhari told a meeting here this evening organised by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry on the Union Budget, that the ''IT sector will be left with little surplus for expansion and effectively compete in the global market following the Budget proposal to tax 11.22 per cent of the adjusted book profits as Minimum Alternative Tax (MAT)''.

The Sunset clause for tax holiday should be extended so that India could emerge first in the sector, he opined.

CCL registers profit of Rs 775 crore in the current fiscal

Ranchi, Mar 3(UNI) The Central Coalfields Limited has registered profit of Rs 775 crore in the current fiscal till date and was set to achieve annual target of 42 million tonnes production within the stipulated time. CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director R P Ritolia today urged the company officials to ensure safety and quality standards while attaining the production target of 85 lakh tonnes. Mr Ritolia today headed the co-ordination committee meeting of Chief General Managers and General Managers at CCL headquarters here.....

JCB India's first in machine sales

Chennai, Mar 3 (UNI) JCB India, a leader in the construction and equipment industry, has become the first company in the country to have sold 50,000 machines. The company, which had a 55 per cent market share in India, also achieved the feat of selling over 10,000 machines in the year 2006 alone, company Managing Director Vipin Sondhi told a press conference here. JCB offered a range of backhoe loaders, loading shovels, tracked excavators, telehandlers and skid steer leaders specially suited.....

'Free software' will change the life of poor: Yechuri

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) CPI (M) Politbureau Member and MP Sitaram Yechuri today said 'breaking monopoly on software would have direct impact on poor as they would have access to knowledge and information.'
