Inflation slips to 6.05 per cent

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) The annual rate of inflation came sharply down to 6.05 per cent for the week ended February 17, from its previous week high of 6.63 per cent due to a fall in fuel and food prices.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram has asked the industry to hold the price line saying that the headline inflation rate could be moderated only through removing supply side constraints, rather than hiking prices of goods and services.

''I urge you (industry) to cooperate with the government in fighting inflation,'' he said here yesterday.

The annual inflation rate calculated on a point-to-point basis was 4.13 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.

HP to achieve growth rate of 9.3 per cent this year: CM

Shimla, Mar 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said the state was likely to achieve a growth rate of 9.3 per cent as against a national average of 9.2 per cent during the current year. Presenting the economic survey report in the House, he said as per advanced estimates the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2006-07 at current prices was expected at Rs 28,298 crore as against Rs 25,435 crore for 2005-06 and Rs 23,024 crore.....

ICAO asks Centre for coexistance of Dhabolim-Mopa airport

Panaji, Mar 5 (UNI) The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has asked the Centre to clear its proposal for undertaking an additional ''techno-economic feasibility'' study about the coexistence of the existing Dabolim airport in South Goa and the proposed international airport at Mopa in North Goa. Stating this in reply to an unstarred question of Laxmikant Parsekar (BJP), Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane said such a study would enable the six-member committee headed by him, to assess and evaluate the issues.....
