Gujarat moved to Northern grid

Gandhinagar, Mar 2 (UNI) Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Dalal today informed the state assembly that the Central Government's decision to move the State from Western Power Grid to the Northern Grid has imposed a burden to the state treasury of Rs 614 crore because of cut in power supply by 208 MW.

The power cut of 208 MW had forced the Gujarat Government to buy eletricity from private sources at a cost of Rs 6 per unit, instead of Rs 1.68 per unit being charged by the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI).

Seaking during question hour, in reply to a written query by ruling BJP MLA Pragjibhai Patel, Mr Dalal alleged that the decision to move Gujarat from Western to Northern grid was taken to give cheaper power to Maharashtra as the Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Sinde belonged to that state.

A rapist punished by people in Kishanganj

Kishanganj, Mar 11 (UNI) In an extremely bizarre incident, a group of people from a minority community tried to punish an alleged rapist in accordance with the 'sheriat' laws . According to reports, a 10-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by head Maulvi Moibur Rahman of Touheed Ulema at Belwa, some 10 km from here recently. Chief Minister P Chamling announces ex-gratia

Gangtok, Mar 11 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh to the families of the state India Reserve Battalion personnel who were killed in Delhi early this morning.
