Govt says no orders passed AC bars

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today denied passing any order for opening air-conditioned bars in TASMAC retail outlets selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor in the state.

Reacting to reports in a section of the press that the government had issued orders to open 300 A/C bars and fixed an entry fee of Rs 10 per head, an official release here said the government had not issued any such order.

Meanwhile, police arrested five people in charge of TASMAC retail outlets in Salem for opening illegal A/C bars. Police said they were arrested for opening bars when the government had not passed any order or given permission to this effect.

Minister inaugurates handicrafts expo

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism and Export Promotion J Geeta Reddy today inaugurated a handicrafts expo for promotion, marketing and development of traditional handicrafts of the state. Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of the AP Handicrafts Development Corporation, she said the expo would continue for 15 days from March two to 16.
