Governor, CM greet people on Holi

Jammu, Mar 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today extended their greetings to the people on Holi, the festival of colours.

The Governor described the festival as a part of our composite culture and hoped that the day would be celebrated with traditional gaiety, sobriety and decorum.

In his message, Lt Gen Sinha said: ''Holi provides us an opportunity to break all barriers for sharing our joy, sentiments and good feelings and to spread happiness all around.'' He also expressed the hope that the festival would go a long way in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, unity and integrity of the country.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir is famous for its rich cultural amity and celebrations of festivals in the state are unique for their secular and friendly colour.

''While celebrating festivals everyone of us has to further cement the existing brotherly relations and extend message of love to everyone,'' he added.

BCI opposes entry of foreign lawyers and law firms

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Bar Council of India (BCI), the only statutory body authorised to monitor and supervise the legal profession and education, today strongly opposed the entry of foreign lawyers and law firms in the country. 100 bio-villages to be set up in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 2 (UNI) As many as 100 bio-villages will be established in Kerala with emphasis on organic farming during 2007-08, which will be declared as 'Harithavarsham,' the year of agriculture and farmers. This was disclosed by Governor R L Bhatia while addressing the Kerala Assembly on the opening day of the Budget Session. 'Harithasree,' a programme to produce 1.5 million tonnes of vegetables and make the state self-sufficient, would also be launched. Organic farming would be encouraged and technical know-how.....

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Delhi Police have arrested Manjit Singh, a desparate criminal of the Najfgarh area, under the National Security Act 1980. A member of the dreaded Anoop gang. Manjit Singh was involved in many heinous cases in the Nazafgarh, Inderpuri, Malviya Nagar and Kapashera areas.
