Cold wave in HP despite clear sky

Shimla, Mar 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh had today respite from wet conditions after three days of heavy snowfall in the higher altitude areas and widespread rains in the mid and lower hills of the state.

The sky was mainly clear even as intense cold wave conditions were prevailing with the minimum at Kalpa in Kinnuar district plummeting to minus 8.2 degree Celsius.

The met office said Bhang Manali and Solang Nullah in Kullu district recorded minimum temperatures of minus three and minus two after recording over three feet of snow during last three days.

Though the minimum temperature at Shimla rose to 1.3 degrees, people were experiencing extreme cold and were seen basking at the famous Ridge and the Mall during the day.

The day and night temperatures in the state have fallen sharply during the last three days, reviving coldwave conditions in the state.

The state capital recorded the day temperature at 10.1 degree, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a low of 4.6 and 3.5 degree.

The met office has predicted snow or rain at higher reaches or at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hours.

Four arrested for Sunday's robbery-cum-murder of Jeweller

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Delhi Police have arrested four members of an inter-state gang of robbers for their involvement in the murder of a jeweller in East Delhi on Sunday. The mastermind of the gang Mohd Kasim, along with his associates Sajid, Abdul Rehman and Sharafat, were arrested late last night after a brief encounter from near Kashmere Gate while they were leaving Delhi for Kairana.
