CM honours Mauritian Hindi writer

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today hosted a reception in honour of eminent Hindi writer from Mauritius Abhimanyu Anat and well-known Urdu poetess from Pakistan, Fahmida Riyaz.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Dikshit said both Hindi and Urdu literature had been disseminating human values.

She called upon writers of India, Mauritius and Pakistan to come forward and inculcate a sense of harmony, co-existence and cooperation.

Mr Anat presented a poem on India and described Mauritius as his birthplace and India as place of cultural heritage, while Ms Fahmida presented a 'Nazm' on Delhi.

The reception was jointly organized by the state government's Hindi and Urdu Academies at the residence of the chief minister.

Well-known Hindi and Urdu writers and MLAs Jagdish Mukhi, Ramakant Goswami and Rajesh Lilothia were also present on the occasion.

IAF gifts MIG to Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar Feb 25 (UNI) The Indian Air Force has donated a Mig-23 aircraft to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) for display and general awareness about the aircraft. The aircraft was today installed in front of the University library by a team of 15 engineers/ground staff of Air Force Station, Halwara led by Sqn Leader Harjinder Singh Marwaha. Hindi will be universally-accepted Language: Anant

Bhopal, Mar 2 (UNI) Eminent Mauritius-resident Hindi short story-writer Abhimanyu Anant is hopeful that Hindi will be the universally-accepted language soon despite the present trend of according importance to English. ''There is nothing wrong in learning English but that should not be at the cost of Hindi.
