Bullets seizure : FIR filed agaisnt Pinarayi Vijayan

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Kerala CPI(M) Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan for failing to produce the original licence of his pistol and take possession of the bullets, seized from him at the airport here on February 16.

The FIR was filed on February 28 under Aircrafts Act and Indian Arms Act at the Airport police station, Police and Airport sources said here today.

The bullets were seized from the baggage of Mr Vijayan when he was about to board a flight from Chennai airport to New Delhi last month. He said he had forgotten to take the bullets from his suitcase due to memory lapse.

Soon after the bullets were seized, Mr Vijayan submitted a photocopy of his gun licence and promised to take back the bullets by producing the original documents.

Since he had not produced the original documents, the FIR was registered, the sources said.

Defamation case : Vaiko appears before court

Chennai, Mar 2 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today appeared before a Sessions Court in connection with a defamation case filed against him by the Tamil Nadu government for his alleged defamatory remarks against Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. CII welcomes budget

Coimbatore, Feb 28 (UNI) The Confederation at Indian Industris (CII)Coimbatore Region, Chairman Jaasyakumar Ramadas today said the budget presented by Union finance Minister P Chidambaram was balanced.
