BRO personnel saves two in HP

Shimla, Mar 2 (UNI) Project Deepak personnel of the Border Road Organisation (BRO) saved the lives of two people after their vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down the hill here last night, police sources today said.

The accident occurred near Chaura Maidan here at about 2115 hrs when the gypsy was on its way from Boileauganj to Vidhan Sabha.

The sources said two BRO personnel after hearing the noise of the vehicle rolling down rushed towards the site and extricated two people trapped inside and informed the local police.

The injured were taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) here where the doctors described their condition stable, they said.

The accident occurred due to poor visibility and snow, the sources said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.

Indian, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts. Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries. 69 passengers caught in snow avalanche in north Kashmir rescued

Sriangar, Mar 2 (UNI) Police and Army have rescued 69 passengers, who were trapped in snow avalanche in north Kashmir late last night. Police said information was received that 69 people, including five women and four children, were caught in snow avalanche at Shaitan Nullah near Sadhna top where about four feet of fresh snowfall was recorded during the past three days. Dr Venugopal says he treats patients in public interest

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) AIIMS Director P Venugopal today told the Delhi High Court that as a responsible surgeon he was treating patients in public interest by holding the office of head of the department (HOD) of the Cardio-thorasic surgery department.
