Asst Police Commissioner shoots self in Surat

Surat, Mar 2 (UNI) An Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) of Surat City Police committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his residence situated in Ghod Dhod road here today, Umra police sources said.

The deceased, Babubhai Ishwarbahi Patel, shot himself with his service revolver was found lying in a pool of blood at his home, the sources said.

The body has been sent for an autopsy.

The reason for the suicide is yet known, they added.

Vadodara, Mar 2 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a self-proclaimed future Acharya of Swaminarayan sect's Vadtal seat to two months imprisonment on the charge of contempt of court order. Civil Judge (senior division) S Chaudhury convicted Swamy Nugendraprasad Pandey on a petition filed by Vadtal Swaminarayan Mandir Trust, which in May, 2002, had removed Nugendra's father Ajendraprasad Pandey from the post of Acharya of the Vadtal Swaminarayan sect and appointed Rakeshprasad Maharaj in his place. Trader shot dead in Bihar

Bhabhua, Mar 2(UNI) A trader was shot dead and his son injured in a shootout by the criminals at Ektachowck in Bhabhua town of Kaimur district this afternoon. Police said the criminals attacked the businessman's shop and demanded extortion money from him. The criminals fired indiscriminately at the trader following his refusal to pay the extortion money.
