69 passengers caught in snow avalanche in north Kashmir rescued

Sriangar, Mar 2 (UNI) Police and Army have rescued 69 passengers, who were trapped in snow avalanche in north Kashmir late last night.

Police said information was received that 69 people, including five women and four children, were caught in snow avalanche at Shaitan Nullah near Sadhna top where about four feet of fresh snowfall was recorded during the past three days.

Rescue teams from the nearby Army camps and police headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Sonam were rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers, the police added.

The rescue operation continued till 0200 hrs this morning and all the passengers, who were on way to Karnah from here, were taken to safer place.

Efforts are being made to reopen the road which was blocked due to the snow avalanche, the police added.

BCI opposes entry of foreign lawyers and law firms

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Bar Council of India (BCI), the only statutory body authorised to monitor and supervise the legal profession and education, today strongly opposed the entry of foreign lawyers and law firms in the country.
