Undeterred by train blast, 93 cross sides at Kaman Aman Setu on LOC

Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) Undeterred by recent bomb blasts in the Samjhauta Express that killed 68 people, 93 passengers crossed sides at the 'Kaman Aman Setu (Peace Bridge)'' on the Line of Control (LoC) on board the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus today.

Official sources told UNI that 54 passengers arrived here from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) today.

The passengers included 29, who are coming here for the first time since 1947, to meet their relatives here while 25 others are returning back to their homes after meeting their relatives in POK.

The passengers crossed the Kaman Aman Setu on foot this afternoon after being cleared by the authorities.

Presidential reference on SYL Canal issue on March 28

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Presidential reference on the controversial Sutlej-Yamuna-Link Canal issue pending before the Supreme Court for the last two years will come up for hearing on March 28. The date for the hearing was fixed by a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan when the Counsel for Haryana mentioned the long pendency of the reference made by President A P J Abdul Kalam. The Congress Government in Haryana sought an early hearing of the reference.....

Opposition's unruly behaviour shameful: Speaker

Jaipur, Mar 1 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly speaker Sumitra Singh today termed as 'shameful' the unruly behaviour of some opposition members during the Governor's address and later during obituary reference. The Speaker, while addressing a press conference here, said, ''there is no question of revoking the suspension of the four opposition members unless and until they tender an unconditional appology for their behaviour.'' The House suspended CPM legislator Amraram, BSP's Suresh Meena and Murarilal Meena, Lok Jan Shakti party's Ranveer Singh Gudha.....

SC directs MCD to comply with its orders dated Feb 12

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the MCD to continue with its sealing drive of illegal constructions except for those covered by the new Delhi Master Plan 2021 (MPD). A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and Lokeshwar Singh Panta issued the directions today when amicus curiae senior counsel Ranjit Kumar informed the court that the MCD had indefinitely stopped the sealing. The Supreme Court appointed Monitoring Committee in its 31st report submitted yesterday informed the Court.....
