Two gangsters remanded to judicial custody

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) A special court today remanded two suspected gangsters, owing allegiance to D K Rao gang, to judicial custody till March 14, for their alleged involvement in the murder of an undertrial robber near Sewri Court in June last year.

Special Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge Mridula Bhatkar remanded suspects - Ganesh Ambore and Subar Kamji - to judicial custody. The duo were produced before Ms Bhatkar for extension of their remand this afternoon, as her brother and MCOCA Judge Abhay Thipsay, who was presiding over the case, was on leave.

Accused Ganesh Ambore told the court that their life was in danger in Thane prison and he wanted to give a confessional statement.

Judge Bhatkar granted the permission and directed the investigating agency to keep the accused in Arthur Road jail till tonight and produce him before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in the morning tomorrow to record his confessional statement.

The accused were picked on February nine this year on charges of murdering an undertrial robber Devendra Krishna on June 26 last year, just outside Sewri Session court while the deceased was on his way back home after attending the Court date.

Chouhan lauds Punjab, U'khand victories

Bhopal, Feb 28 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party's winning assembly elections in Punjab and Uttarakhand epitomised the victory of the BJP's development politics. Telgi wants to be government approver

Pune, Mar 1 (UNI) Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the inter-state multi crore fake stamp paper scam, today moved an application in the MCOCA court, seeking pardon and wanting to be made government approver in the scam. In an application to Special Judge Chitra Bhedi, Telgi, through his lawyers Harshad Nimbalkar and Milind Pawar, prayed that ''he be tendered pardon as an accomplice and allowed to make true and full disclosures of all the facts and circumstances within his.....

Ghosts in jail

Barwani, MP, Feb 28 (UNI) The branches of a neem tree in this district's Sendhwa Sub-Jail premises had to be chopped by the prison administration as inmates allegedly kept saw ghosts on them. ''The inmates had made complaints of that nature. The inmates were relieved after the lopping,'' said Sendhwa's Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Vishnu Kamalkar who quoted jail authorities as saying that an undertrial fell ill and had to be hospitalised after one such harrowing experience.
