Schools in Kashmir reopen after winter vacation

Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) All government and recognised private schools and other educational institutions reopned here today after three- month-long winter vacation.

However, some private schools had extended the vacation till March 5. Majority of schools have also decided to start lower classes from March 7 because of cold due conditions to snowfall on upper reaches during the past three days.

Students, wearing colourful uniform, were seen waiting for schools buses at different places in the city this morning.

The schools, which were closed on December Ist last year because of snowfall, were scheduled to reopen from February 19. However, the authorities decided to extend the vacation till yesterday because of rains.

Bharti's sister Bhawna deposes before court

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Bhawna Yadav, elder sister of key witness Bharti Yadav and prime accused Vikas Yadav in the Nitish Katara murder case today appeared and deposed before the court of Additional Session Judge Ravinder Kaur. Syndicate Bank relaunches Pigmy collection scheme

Bangalore, Mar 1 (UNI) Public sector Syndicate Bank today relaunched its lifeline product of yesteryears, the Pigmy collection scheme, aimed at cultivating savings habit among people with low income. Announcing this to newspersons here, Bank Chairman and Managing Director C P Swarnkar said that under the relaunched 'Pigmy Plus 2007' Daily Deposit Scheme, pigmy collectors would use hand-held collection machines to collect the savings and issue receipt on the spot. Police solve case of fraud and embezzlement

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) With the arrest of an imposter IT professional, police have solved a case of fraud and embezzlement of Rs one crore. Gaurav Sharma (20), was arrested on March 2 from Lucknow for cheating complainant Saurav Chatterjee, Director Planmen Consultants India Pvt Ltd.
