RS 5 lakh cash reward for police party for Abu Talah's killing

Jammu, Mar 1 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today announced Rs Five lakh cash reward for its team that eliminated ''most wanted'' Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Abu Tallah at Billawar in Kathua district last morning.

The cash reward of Rs five lakh was sanctioned by the Director General of Police Gopal Sharma in recognition to the work done by police party, a statement said.

Names of two police officers, who headed the operational party, have been recommended for gallantry award while other six police constables have been awarded out of turn one rank promotion.

The slain militant was involved in number of terrorist activities, including massacre of minority Hindus in Doda and Udhampur districts, and was planning fidayeen (suicide) attacks on Raj Bhavan and MLA's hostel in Jammu city.

UK aid to improve health services in rural areas in AP

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance and Medical and Health minister K Rosaiah today said the UK's Department For International Development (DFID-UK) would provide financial assistance and technical support to improve the quality and access of health services in the state. Answering a question by R Suyaprakasa Rao (Congress), he said the DFID funds were meant for improving maternal and child health, as well as to prevent communicable and non-communicable diseases, particularly in the remote and tribal areas......

Delay certificates till doctors serve in rural areas: Rosaiah

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government was considering a proposal to issue final certificates to medical graduates only after they serve in rural areas for two years, Minister for Medical and Health K Rosaiah said today. Replying to a question by R Suryaprakasha Rao of the Congress during the question hour in state assembly, he said even the Centre was thinking on the same lines.
