RJD stages dharna in Lower House well

Patna, Mar 1(UNI) The members of the RJD, main opposition in the state assembly, today staged dharna in the well of the Assembly, protesting ''framing'' of party leaders in a recent abduction case.

Raising the matter during the zero hour, RJD's Vijendra Kumar Yadav said that his brother, members of Zila parishad, RJD block president and others had been named accused in the recent abduction of five people and subsequent killing of three of them at Jagdishpur village under Himadpur police station of Bhojpur district.

The RJD members also alleged that the local police had implicated the people of a particular caste and party.

Demanding probe into the matter and action against the ''guilty'' officers, the RJD members trooped to the well and sat on ''dharna''.

Intervening into the situation, Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry directed the state government to order probe by the DIG.

Holi celebrations under section 144 CrPC

Shillong, Mar 1(UNI) In view of the Holi celebration, Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills District Magistrate B Dhar today promulgated section 144 CrPC prohibiting throwing, spraying and playing of coloured chemicals /substances/powders in public places including thoroughfares. Chugh takes over as J'khand's chief secretary

Ranchi, Mar 1 (UNI) Development Commissioner A K Chugh today took over the additional charge as Jharkhand's Chief Secretary. The state government, after failing to find a suitable candidate, appointed Mr Chugh for the top bureaucratic post following M K Mandal's retirement yesterday. With many contenders vying hard for the post in the past few weeks, the state government's decision to appoint Mr Chugh was understood to have bought time keeping in mind the budget session beginning tomorrow. Nitish for inclusion of one crore people in BPL list

Patna, Mar 1 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today in the state Assembly said that his government was in favour of inclusion of one crore people in the list of below poverty line (BPL) and urged the Centre for changing the relevent criteria to clear the bottleneck in this regard. Replying to the special debate on Governor's address to the joint session of state legislature, Mr Kumar assured the house that the state government had taken several steps to rectify.....
