RJD MP convicted in criminal case

Siwan, Mar 1 (UNI) A Special court in Bihar today convicted controversial RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in a criminal case related to attack on the local office of CPI(ML).

Special judicial magistrate V V Gupta convicted the MP after completing the trial in the case. The quantum of punishment would be awarded tomorrow.

As per the case Shahabuddin had attacked and ransacked the office inflicting injuries on the people present there in 1998.

The case was registered by CPI (ML) leader Keshav Baitha at the Muffasil police station the same year.

The special court had been constituted here to conduct the trial and to hear the criminal cases lodged against the RJD PM.

The MP is currently lodged in Siwan jail in connection with several criminal cases.

Tea manager abducted

Guwahati, Feb 28 (UNI) Suspected militants abducted the Samraipur tea estate manager at gunpoint in Golaghat district last night. The tea executive R K Singh was kidnapped near his official bungalow while he was returning from Golaghat town. Four killed in two separate road accidents

Agartala, Feb 28 (UNI) Four people were killed in two separate road mishaps at Nutan Bazar and Silachari in the state's South district. A truck carrying four people from Bairagi Doken met with an accident at Bhulanathpara, about 14 km from Nutan Bazar police station. The truck fell into a gorge killing three people on spot.
