Parliament adjourned till 1400 Hrs on Quattrocchi issue

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Quattrocchi issue rocked both Houses of Parliament today forcing their adjournment till 1400 hrs.

Opposition BJP members raised the issue in both Houses demanding the arrest and extradition of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi who is an accused in the Bofors payoff case.

Rajya Sabha was first adjourned at 1115 hours after opposition BJP raised the issue and shouted slogans disrupting the proceedings of the House.

Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat then adjourned the House till 1200 Hrs.

However, as soon as the House re-assembled at 1200 hrs, BJP members agains shouted slogans disrupting the proceedings.

Immediately thereafter, Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned twice as the BJP-led Opposition disrupted the proceedings over the Quattrocchi issue.

As soon as the House assembled at 1130 hrs after the first adjournment, the Opposition members stood up to raise the issue again, but the Congress MPs tried to shout them down.

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the proceedings till 1400 hrs, within minutes of the House re-assembling.

DLF Consortium bags Rs 400 cr convention centre contract: Rane

Panaji, Mar 2 (UNI) Delhi-based DLF Consortium has bagged the Rs 400 crore contract for building the prestigious 4000 capacity Goa Convention Centre after finalising the bids. This was disclosed to mediapersons by Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane here today. SIMI activist arrested in Bihar capital

Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) A hardcore activist of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) Hasib Raza, alias Habib, was arrested from Milkiyana locality under Phulwarisarif police station area of the state capital today. Police said the SIMI activist was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off.
