Opposition's unruly behaviour shameful: Speaker

Jaipur, Mar 1 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly speaker Sumitra Singh today termed as 'shameful' the unruly behaviour of some opposition members during the Governor's address and later during obituary reference.

The Speaker, while addressing a press conference here, said, ''there is no question of revoking the suspension of the four opposition members unless and until they tender an unconditional appology for their behaviour.'' The House suspended CPM legislator Amraram, BSP's Suresh Meena and Murarilal Meena, Lok Jan Shakti party's Ranveer Singh Gudha for the remaining period of the budget session which began today.

''The incident is shameful. It is against the honour and respect of the Governor. I am deeply pained by the unruly behaviour of the legislatures,'' he said.

On the Congress charge that the House was not taken into confidence of the Governor not reading the full text of the adress, the speaker quoting a High court order said '' the Governor's adress is considered read after it is tabled in the House.'' UNI

CPCB moves SC against felling of trees around Taj

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court today has asked the court to direct the authorities to carry out a quick assesSment of the impact the felling of trees around the Taj Mahal would have on the environment. The CPCB has also sought directions to the court appointed monitoring committee to quickly carry out the impact assessment. It may be noted here that the Uttar Pradesh government had sought.....

Infiltration bid foiled at bg in Poonch

Jammu, Mar 1 (UNI) Army troops have foiled an infiltration bid by militants from the line of control (LoC) at Bhimber Gali in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said here today. ''Troops noticed some suspicious movement on the other side last night and opened a speculative fire, which was retaliated by the suspected terrorists,'' he said. Hutch issue referred to FIPB for probe

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today referred the issue of Hutch to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board(FIPB) to complete an inquiry within two months, on the allegation that foreign companies were holding more than 74 per cent shares against the foreign direct investment(FDI) rules of the telecom sector. A Division Bench of Chief Justice M K Sarma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed the Centre and FIPB to complete the probe expeditiously. The PIL filed by Telecom Watchdog,.....
