Nagaland village guards celebrate Golden jubilee

Kohima, Mar 1 (UNI) Nagaland Village Guards today celebrated its Golden Jubilee in a spectacular function at a local ground here.

Speaking on the occassion, Governor K Sankaranarayanan lauded the Village Guards (VG) for their dedication towards security, especially in the remote areas, inaccessible to even the police.

He said in the last 50 years, they have earned many honours for their bravery and some have even sacrificed their lives while performing their duties. He hoped that this celebration will expand their vision and dedication to their service.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio informed that initially the Village Guards were only three hundred in number, but now they have increased to 9,571.

Commandant General of the VG and Nagaland Commissioner T N Mannen presided over the function.

Dubai, Mar 1 (UNI) India's largest brokerage house UTI Securities Ltd will start Bahrain's first online trading desk to be commissioned within a week. India, Australia to step up trade, investment flows
