Literary boards should try for 'Pan Literature' movement: Sadhu

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) Veteran journalist and president of All India Marathi Literary Meet Arun Sadhu today said literary boards should make efforts to start 'Pan Indian Literature' movement.

Talking to reporters at a 'meet the press' programme, organised by Mantralaya Vidhimandal Vartahar Sangh, Mr Sadhu, who had a chequered career in English and Marathi journalism, said the move will bring the literature of other Indian languages more closer.

Mr Sadhu said Marathi does not enjoy the status as the language of knowledge but has become the common man's language whereas English has become a language of knowledge.

IT dept inspects accounts of prominent businessmen in Surat

Surat, Mar 2 (UNI) The Income Tax (IT) department is turning its heat on tax dodgers and has begun inspecting the accounts of professionals from sectors like diamond, textiles, jewellery, real estate groups to search for tax irregularities, sources today said. The department began inspecting the books of these business establishments, including eight prominent business groups here to look for inconsistencies between declared and actual income since yesterday, sources added. Whale shark rescued and released into Arabian Sea

Rajkot, Mar 2 (UNI) Officials from forest and fisheries department here rescued and released a 35 feet long whale shark weighing about six tonne, that got entangled in a fishing net off Veraval coast in Junagadh district, into the Arabian Sea. The whale shark was entangled in the nets of fisherman Laljibhai Dhanjibhai on Wednesday while fishing in the sea off Veraval coast, sources said. He immediately informed forest and fisheries department officials who rescued the whale shark by cutting off.....
