Judge arrested for embezzling funds; remanded to judicial custody

Mysore, Mar 1 (UNI) Suspended Principal sessions judge Sayed Ameen Ali was arrested and remanded to judicial custody till March 14 in a case relating to misappropriation of court funds.

Judge Ali was produced before first additional principal civil Judge Sangareshi at his residence last night and remanded to judicial custody for a day. On expiry of custody today, Judge Sangareshi held video conferencing with Judge Ali, lodged at the central prison in the city, and extended the remand.

A case was filed by the court against, Judge Ali, the court Accounts Clerk and a nationalised bank manager in 2002 and 2003 for misappropriation of court funds deposited by the clients. Following this, the trio was suspended.

Basirhat, Mar 2 (UNI) Two people, stated to be Bangladeshis, fled from police station after being apprehended by the BSF from Ghojadanga border along Bangladesh near here in North 24 Parganas today. Police said the BSF guards reportedly brought two Bangladeshi youths, who were caught from Ghojadanga, to hand them over to the police this morning. New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The Project Sanctioning and Monitoring Group of the National Capital Region Planning Board has approved for undertaking a study for Integrated Transportation Plan for the National Capital Region (NCR) as a whole. The study will prepare an integrated multi-modal transport system for the National Capital Region after assessing the level of utilisation, potential and deficiencies in the present transportation system. Due emphasis would be given to strengthen existing corridors and requirement of new rail.....

Ratlam horror: Bones in DNA lab

Sagar, MP, Mar 2 (UNI) Human bones, recently found on a mission hospital premises at Ratlam district headquarters, have been conveyed to the DNA laboratory here for analysis. ''The foetus bones were received on Wednesday from Bhopal's Medico-Legal Institute. Sex determination will be possible through analysis,'' the lab's Joint Director Mehmood Ali said today. More than 600 bones were found and preliminary investigation suspected that they belonged to foetuses or infants. UNI.....

Bhopal, Mar 2 (UNI) A local court today recorded the statement of the then Station House Officer, Parwalia, in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi are accused. Mr Dinesh Vaishya deposed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate. Special Judge Anurag Shrivastav will tomorrow hear a review petition filed by the defence after its plea -- to convert the witnesses into accused -- was dismissed. Obscene CD features deputy collector

Hoshangabad, MP, Mar 2 (UNI) A police inquiry is underway into an obscene compact disc (CD) that allegedly featured a deputy collector, posted at the Collectorate here, sexually harassing a woman. ''The probe will bring out the facts of the case,'' said District Collector Faiz Ahmad Kidwai.
