Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) Income-Tax officials today conducted a survey on the residence of popular film actor-producer Saran.
It was not a raid, IT sources told UNI.
''We are only conducting a survey based on the IT returns filed by him,'' they said.
The survey was carried out by a team of IT officials at the residence and business premises of the producer-director, who had directed several hits like 'Kadhal Mannan,' 'Attagasam,' 'Amarkalam,' 'Jey Jey,' and produced films like 'Aaru' and 'Muni.' The survey was only to gather information whether the returns filed by him was correct or not and to find out whether the information provided by the assessee was genuine or not.
''Survey is different from Raids. We conduct raids only after ascertaining enough intelligence that a person has black-money with him or unaccounted assets,'' the sources said.
