Indian businessman in Dubai wrongly diagnosed with cancer

Dubai, Mar 1 (UNI) An Indian businessman, who claimed he was wrongly diagnosed with cancer by a private hospital here, is suing the medical group for 2 million Dhiram.

Jacob Tharayil, 49, closed his mechanical workshop and returned to India last September after doctors in Dubai diagnosed him as having cancer only to discover that his was a case of mere viral infection Tharayil is now planning to sue the Al Rafa Hospital.

'' My family and I had to go through a lot of trauma after doctors told me that I have cancer,'' he told Emirates Today.

He is also upset with the behaviour of the hospital, which did not even bother to apologise to him after he told them about the negative test results in India Tharayil had even settled the gratuity and other end of service benefits with his staff, and transferred the power of attorney to his daughter.

Tharayil's lawyer said it is a clear case of medical negligence, which caused him serious mental and financial losses.

Lankan Army plane crashes; trainer, instructor killed

Colombo, Mar 1 (UNI) A Chinese-built trainer aircraft of the Sri Lankan Air Force today crashed at Anuradhapura airfield killing the two personnel onboard. ''A Chinese-built PT-6 trainer aircraft of the Lankan Air Force crashed inside the Anuradhapura air base around 1215 hrs (local time) today. Both the trainer and the instructor have been killed in the crash,'' Air Force spokesman, Group Captain Ajantha Silva told UNI. ''Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Roshan Gunatillake has immediately appointed a top committee.....

Federation to go ahead with Mar 15 bandh

Puducherry, Mar 13 (UNI) The Federation of Village Panchayat Presidents Associations would go ahead with their proposed 24-hour bandh here on March 15. Announcing this at a press conference today, Federation convener Nagamuthu and deputy convener Jaganathan said the Federation was forced to call the bandh. The territorial administration and the government should shoulder the responsibility, they added. They also said it was improper on the part of the territorial administration to remain silent in their issue even after the Federation.....
