I am not living in exile: M F Husain

Dubai, Mar 1 (UNI) Celebrated Indian painter Maqbool Fida Husain, who has been living here for the past one year, denied that he was living here in exile.

''India is my motherland, I am going there next week. Nobody is stopping me from visiting my country,'' he said.

Mr Husain, facing obscenity charges from some Hindu fundamentalist groups, denied accusations that he was dithering returning to India to avoid the law.

''An artist is always ahead of his times,'' he told the Khaleej Times and blamed the media for all such speculation.

''The talk is all bunkum,'' he said.

The government of India has not enforced anything, he said adding that he had been going abroad for the past 50 years.
