House lauds Jindal for winning gold, wishes luck to Team India

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today congratulated MP Naveen Jindal for winning a gold medal in skeet shooting at an event in Jaipur and wished luck to Team India for the World Cup.

Mr Chatterjee congratulated the young MP on behalf of the House for winning a gold medal in the skeet shooting at the Fifth Sardar Sajjan Singh Sethi Memorial Masters Shooting Competition held in February at the Oasis Ranges in Jaipur.

He said Mr Jindal had earlier won a silver medal in the same discipline at the 33rd National Games held at Guwahati in January.

The Speaker said ''I am sure the House would join me in congratulating Mr Jindal on his commendable achievements.'' He also wished luck to the Indian cricket team for the World Cup.

Judge arrested for abetting wife's suicide

Rajkot, Mar 10 (UNI) A Judicial Magistrate of Jetpur Court has been arrested for allegedly abetting his wife's suicide. The Judge Nishit Purushottamdas Thakkar was arrested after he surrendered before the Jetpur police last night. He has been sent to the Rajkot Central jail here, police sources said. The Judge's mother-in-law, in her complaint, had alleged that the accused, his father, aunt and three sisters had abetted her daughter Archana Thakkar's suicide over dowry demands, sources said. Abu Salem's lawyer says he is receiving threatening calls

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Underworld don Abu Salem's lawyer Adv Ashok Sarogi has lodged a complaint with police saying he has been receiving threatening calls from gangster Ravi Poojari who wants him to withdraw from the 1993 serial blasts case. Adv Sarogi, who is representing Salem in the 1993 serial blasts case as well as in other cases, stated that the calls have emanated from Australia. Ahmedabad, Mar 10 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a shopkeeper murdered his mother and two young daughters before committing suicide in Mrudula Park-II society in Sola area on the Western outskirts of the city today. Rajendra Dhanjibhai Patel (37) hanged his two daughters -- Khusali (8) and Nandini (4)--and suffocated his mother Madhuben (60) at his residence this morning.
