Honorarium of Vidya volunteers in AP to be raised

Hyderabad, Mar 01 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhhara Reddy has decided to enhance the honorarium of Vidya volunteers of primary and upper primary schools in all the districts to Rs 1,500 per month from Rs 1,000.

The Chief Minister had taken the decision following representation from Vidya volunteers, appeal from Congress and Youth Congress workers, an official release said here today.

Altogether 50,763 Vidya volunteers were working in the state and the additonal expenditure on account of this would be Rs 25.38 crore.

More than 5 lakh students to appear for SSLC exams in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 1 (UNI) As many as 5,05,201 students will be appearing in this year's SSLC examinations, commencing on March 14. Of this 2,31,569 candidates are girls. The total number of candidates in the SC/ST category, who have registered for the examination was 47,568, Kerala Education Minister M A Baby told reporters here today. Aircel tests 3G technology, readies for launch

Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) Leading mobile service provider in the state, Aircel in association with Maxis Communications Malaysia has successfully tested '3G Readiness' in the city. The 3G trials were conducted with ZTE corporation. TPM urges AP govt to amend Endowments Act

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) The Temples Protection Movement (TPM) today urged the Andhra Pradesh government to amend the Endowments Act as directed by the Supreme Court to save the temples from decay and help in revival of the temple system in the state.
