Haryana to have CCTV cameras on bus stands, rail stations

Chandigarh, March 1 (UNI) In the wake of the Samjhuata Express blasts, the Haryana government has decided to instal CCTV cameras at major bus stands and urged the Railway Authorities to do the same at important railway stations in the state.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the State Security Committee held under the Chairmanship of Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant here today.

It was felt that CCTV cameras were needed to be installed at entry, exit and other strategic points on all important Railway Stations and bus stands in the state.

Mr Prashant also expressed his concern about the security arrangements at the big business centres coming up in the form of malls at Gurgaon and Faridabad. He asked Civil and Police Authority of these districts to ensure installing of Metal Detector, CCTV cameras at entry, exit, parking places and other strategic points in these malls.

The meeting was attended by the Officials of the Home, Railways, Transport, Police Departments and the Intelligence Bureau.

The Chief Secretary said a warning system should be placed at bus stands and railway stations from which general directions of safety should be announced round the clock.

It was stressed in the meeting that for important trains like Samjhauta Express proper segregation of the platform from general approach should be made.

Only those passengers which have proper documents like visa and ticket should be allowed on such a platform and system of screening the luggage, issue of boarding cards and checking of passengers before start of train should be introduced to ensure foolproof security, the officials felt.
