Haryana to allow open sale of Khair trees

Chandigarh, Mar 1 (UNI) Fulfilling the long pending demand of Khair trees growers, the Haryana government has decided to permit them to sell their trees in the open market.

Minister of State for Forests Kiran Choudhry today said the Khair trees growers would no longer be required to sell their produce through the Haryana Forest Department to agencies recognised by the government.

Mr Choudhry said an amendment would soon be made in the relevant notification issued in the 1997.

It was a persistent demand of the farmers to give them the permission to sell their trees at their own level to any individual or agency so that they could get remunerative price she added.

The Forest Minister said representatives of farmers met her several times for the cutting of their Khair trees for this purpose.

Finding their demand to be genuine, she consulted Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who immediately conceded it, she added.

KGA Group to invest Rs 600 crore in Kerala

Kochi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Kuwait-based KGA Group of companies will set up a Rs 220-crore business hotel here and will pump in Rs 600 crore to venture into hospitality and tourism sectors in Kerala. Mahindra's tractor registers 7 per cent growth

Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) The tractor manufacturing division of Mahindra and Mahindra, has posted a growth of seven per cent in February compared to coresponding period last year. The total sales volumes for the month stood at 7003 including exports, which was about five per cent high over the last fiscal, a company release here said today.
