Govt ready for any discussion on Quattrocchi: PM

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the UPA government was ready for any discussion on the Quattrocchi issue.

''We are not afraid of entering into any discussion. We have done no wrong,'' the Prime Minister said in the Rajya Sabha after the opposition demanded a clarification from the Prime Minister's ''impromptu press conference'' outside Parliament on February 27.

The Prime Minister reiterated that by speaking outside Parliament, he did not mean to show disrespect to any member.

Dr Singh recalled that he did not hold any press conference but answered some questions thrown at him by mediapersons.

He had said the government was ready for any discussions on Quattrocchi issue and the CBI will follow the course of the law while dealing with the issue.

Judge arrested for abetting wife's suicide

Rajkot, Mar 10 (UNI) A Judicial Magistrate of Jetpur Court has been arrested for allegedly abetting his wife's suicide. The Judge Nishit Purushottamdas Thakkar was arrested after he surrendered before the Jetpur police last night. He has been sent to the Rajkot Central jail here, police sources said. The Judge's mother-in-law, in her complaint, had alleged that the accused, his father, aunt and three sisters had abetted her daughter Archana Thakkar's suicide over dowry demands, sources said. Abu Salem's lawyer says he is receiving threatening calls

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Underworld don Abu Salem's lawyer Adv Ashok Sarogi has lodged a complaint with police saying he has been receiving threatening calls from gangster Ravi Poojari who wants him to withdraw from the 1993 serial blasts case. Adv Sarogi, who is representing Salem in the 1993 serial blasts case as well as in other cases, stated that the calls have emanated from Australia. In his complaint, Adv Sarogi said he had received two such phone calls so far......
