Geelani dismisses reports of his ill health

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Breakaway Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani today dismissed reports of his ill health, and said his health condition was fine.

Mr Geelani told UNI that he had undergone a routine medical checkup at a city hospital and the doctors were satisfied with his health condition.

''I did visit my doctor today and am scheduled to visit the hospital again on Saturday... I am not even admitted to the hospital,'' he said.

The septuagenarian pro-Pakistan leader has undergone surgery earlier in which one of his kidneys was removed.

India faces dire shortage of endoscopists,gastro specialists:Doctors

Ahmedabad, Mar 3 (UNI) There is a major shortage of endoscopists and gastroenterologists in India, with only one-third of the medical institutes in the country providing such specialised courses. Doctors participating in 'Endocon 2007', an annual scientific meet of gastrointestinal endoscopy which began here today, voiced these concerns at a press conference. Nine killed in lightning strike

Rewa, MP, Mar 13 (UNI) Nine people, including two women and three children of a family, were killed after lightning struck them in separate incidents in the past 24 hours in Rewa district, police said today. Sudhni (30), Munnibai (35), Nirmala Bai (12), Radha (10) and Chameli (6) took shelter under a tree at Dubi village, 70 km from district headquarters, while returning from a 'Kanya Bhoj' programme when the incident occurred. Devkinandan (30), Kalbasia Yadav (35) and Chhote Tiwari died.....
